NEW YORK CITY: A career criminal with a lengthy rap sheet has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl inside a private apartment building in Manhattan’s Stuyvesant Town community, according to law enforcement officials.
Police identified the suspect as Germaine Parham, 33, who was taken into custody Tuesday in upstate New York. Authorities say the disturbing assault occurred inside a StuyTown apartment building on the morning of January 29.
Members of the NYPD, working alongside the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, launched a multi-agency manhunt following the incident.
Suspect Captured Upstate
According to police sources, Parham was located and arrested in the upstate town of Amsterdam, New York, approximately 30 miles northwest of Albany. Authorities say he had been attempting to evade capture following the alleged assault.
