LAS VEGAS (KSNV): Authorities have confirmed the identities of a Utah mother and her 11-year-old daughter who were found dead in what police described as a murder-suicide incident.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office ruled the death of 34-year-old Tawnia McGeehan, of West Jordan, Utah, a suicide.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police stated that officers initially received a request to conduct a welfare check at the Rio on Sunday morning involving the mother and child.
Officers and hotel security personnel reportedly knocked on the hotel room door multiple times and called into the room but received no response.
Police indicated there was no immediate reason to believe either individual was in danger at that time, and officers left the property.
Authorities Continue Investigation
Later in the day, hotel security received additional requests to check on the occupants. Security personnel entered the room shortly before 2:30 p.m. and found both individuals unresponsive.
