CRANS-MONTANA: US alpine skiing icon Lindsey Vonn has insisted her “Olympic dream is not over” after suffering a serious crash during the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup downhill event in Switzerland.
The downhill race was ultimately cancelled due to “adverse conditions” after Vonn became the third skier of the day to crash. She lost control after landing a jump before colliding heavily with the safety netting and was airlifted to hospital for further evaluation.

Vonn later confirmed she had injured her left knee but remained optimistic, stating she is working closely with her doctors and team. “This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics,” she said, “but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback.”
The Winter Olympics begin in Milan-Cortina on 6 February, with the downhill event scheduled for 8 February. Vonn’s participation now depends on medical assessments in the coming days.
