NEW YORK: Law & Order: SVU has officially recast the role originally intended for actor Timothy Busfield following serious criminal charges involving alleged child sexual abuse.
Busfield had been set to appear as a respected judge in the episode titled “Corrosive”, originally scheduled to air on January 15. However, after an arrest warrant was issued alleging criminal sexual contact with two minors connected to the set of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, NBC pulled the episode from its lineup.
Industry Fallout and Recasting Decision
Following the allegations, Busfield was dropped by Innovative Artists and edited out of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other. NBC has since confirmed that his role in SVU has been recast, though details of the replacement remain limited.
The situation comes as actor David Zayas continues to reprise his role as Angel Batista in the Dexter franchise, with recent credits including The Bear and Blue Bloods, highlighting the contrast in industry responses to ongoing controversies.
This article will be updated as more confirmed information becomes available.
