Homeless Brute Who Stole Woman’s Cane Identified as Registered Offender
The homeless brute who allegedly stole an 88-year-old woman’s cane in Union Square and knocked her over while attempting to flee with her purse is reportedly a registered offender from Wisconsin and a parole violator, court officials said during a hearing Saturday.
Kurtis Mcvae entered Manhattan Criminal Court appearing disheveled, with a scruffy beard and mustache, along with a mop of dirty blonde hair. The 36-year-old’s hands appeared dirty, and he was dressed in a white T-shirt, green flannel jacket layered over a grey hoodie, forest green sweatpants, and grey sneakers.
Authorities say the attack occurred outside a Target store near the intersection of East 14th Street and Union Square East at approximately 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
According to officials, the elderly victim was shoved to the ground after the suspect allegedly grabbed her cane. Emergency responders transported the woman to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.
As of the latest update, no arrests have been made. Investigations remain ongoing.
