NEW YORK: After actor Timothy Busfield was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse, NBC’s Law & Order: SVU has officially recast the role he was set to appear in.
Busfield was originally scheduled to guest star as a respected judge in the episode titled “Corrosive”, which had been planned to air on January 15. However, following the issuance of an arrest warrant related to alleged abuse involving two child actors on the set of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, the episode was removed from the broadcast schedule.
Industry Fallout and Recasting Decision
In the wake of the allegations, Busfield was dropped by his agency, Innovative Artists, and removed from Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other. NBC has since confirmed the role in SVU has been recast, allowing production to move forward.
Actor David Zayas, meanwhile, continues his television success, reprising his role as Angel Batista in Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Resurrection. His recent credits include The Running Man, The Bear, and Blue Bloods.
