WESLACO, Texas — Authorities identify pedestrian killed in auto-pedestrian crash
Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in an auto-pedestrian crash Saturday evening near Weslaco as Raul Palomin, 48, of Edcouch.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 6:21 p.m. on F.M. 1015 south of Mile 13 1/2 N Road, north of Weslaco.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a gray 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on FM 1015 when, for unknown reasons, a pedestrian ran toward the roadway and entered the lane of traffic.
According to DPS, the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle’s front right-side mirror. The driver stopped immediately and attempted to render aid.
Palomin was transported to McAllen Medical Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries, according to the DPS release.
