TROUP COUNTY, Ga. – The body of a man reported missing on Christmas Day has been found, authorities confirmed.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office says Fernando Ortiz, 34, was reported missing after he was last seen on Liberty Hill Road.

A coordinated search effort was launched involving the Troup County Fire Department, Troup County Emergency Management Agency, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and American Medical Response.

Despite extensive efforts, Ortiz was not initially located. The Troup County Sheriff’s Department officially reported him missing on December 26, 2025.

According to a social media post, Ortiz was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed about 240 pounds, and was last seen wearing a light green shirt, jeans, and work boots.

He was last seen on Liberty Hill Road around 2 p.m. on December 25. Authorities later confirmed that Ortiz’s body was discovered on Saturday.
