BELLE GLADE, Fla. (CBS12) — After fighting for his life for nearly five months, the second driver involved in a wrong-way crash on Southern Boulevard has died from his injuries.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Jorge Fermin, 57, of West Palm Beach, was pronounced dead on December 31 at 2:18 p.m. following the August 10 collision.
The crash initially claimed the life of 24-year-old Lon'Quinten McFadden, who authorities say was driving the wrong way at the time of the accident.
According to the accident report, Fermin was traveling westbound on Southern Boulevard in Belle Glade when McFadden was improperly driving eastbound and failed to yield, resulting in a violent collision.
Investigators say the incident remains under review, and officials continue to remind drivers about the dangers of wrong-way driving and the importance of road safety.
