The search is on for the person or people responsible for the fatal shooting of a teenager on New Year's Eve in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

Seventeen-year-old Joshua Gipson Jr. dreamed of going to college and playing football at Virginia Tech, family members said.

“He's a beautiful kid, no problem,” said his father, Joshua Gipson Sr.

Detectives are investigating after the teen was killed during a New Year's Eve shooting at Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Fort Lauderdale Police said officers responded to a reported shooting at 17 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Authorities have not released information about possible suspects and are urging anyone with information to contact police.
