Kathy Dame Obituary, Death: Woman dies after being injured in a vehicle-related incident at Douglas and Hillside

Published: January 2026  |  Location: Wichita, Kansas

Ryan Dame vividly remembers Sunday trips to tour open houses in Wichita with his mother, Kathy Dame, when he was a child.

She had a deep love for architecture, especially homes built in the 1920s and 1930s, and neighborhoods such as College Hill and Riverside. Her passion eventually led her to a career as a Realtor.

“She was definitely a Wichita girl,” said her mother, Honey Keck. “She loved her children and grandchildren. She was very, very family oriented.”

The 62-year-old died Tuesday evening in the hospital while surrounded by family. She had been struck by a vehicle while walking on Hillside near Oakland around 7:35 p.m. Sunday. The driver was traveling north on Hillside at the time of the incident.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Family members remember Kathy Dame as upbeat, deeply family-oriented, and a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Wichita State University basketball.
