WILSON’S MILLS, N.C.: A fatal one-car crash early Sunday morning in Johnston County, North Carolina has claimed the life of Alexis Quintanilla, a Smithfield man, according to local fire officials. The devastating incident occurred after a high-speed collision with a tree, leaving another woman critically injured.

Authorities say the crash was reported shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Powhatan Road at Pocahontas Trail. Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames following what officials described as a high-speed impact into a tree approximately two miles northwest of Wilson’s Mills.

The vehicle involved was identified as a 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the car was traveling well in excess of 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
