WINNIPEG: Winnipeg Jets defenceman Haydn Fleury was stretchered off the ice after crashing violently into the boards during Tuesday night’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, causing immediate concern across the arena.

The Jets later announced that Fleury was transported to a hospital by ambulance. The team confirmed that he was fully alert and able to move all extremities upon departure from the arena, easing some of the initial fears following the frightening collision.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Fleury rejoined the team on Wednesday after spending the night in hospital. Head coach Scott Arniel revealed that the 29-year-old suffered a broken nose and a bruised back, while it remains unclear whether he sustained a concussion.
