WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has identified the pedestrian who lost his life in a fatal crash on DC-295 as William Gardner, 60. The incident has raised renewed concerns about pedestrian safety along major highways in the District.
According to MPD’s preliminary investigation, a black 2000 Chevy Silverado was traveling northbound on Interstate 295 when it struck Gardner, who was walking in the roadway. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Gardner succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
