Kayla Marie Allen Death News: Authorities report one person died and another was injured in a Winston-Salem traffic incident

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred Monday evening in the 800 block of E. Sprague Street.

Authorities said the incident happened at approximately 6:56 p.m. when two pedestrians were struck while crossing E. Sprague Street at Burgundy Street in a clearly marked crosswalk.

Police identified the victims as Kayla Marie Allen, 28, and Alphonzo Dennard Galloway, 55. Emergency Medical Services pronounced Allen deceased at the scene, while Galloway suffered minor injuries and received medical attention.

Investigators said the vehicle involved was a 2003 Nissan Sentra. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Maleek Williamson, reportedly fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid.

Williamson now faces multiple charges, including Felony Flee to Elude and Felony Hit and Run. Authorities confirmed he is currently being held without bond.

The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation. Officials are continuing to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from the area.
