The 32-year-old daredevil was found with fatal injuries after diving into Platteklip Gorge on Monday morning. Emergency services confirmed that the wingsuit pilot who died during the fatal flight was Brendan Weinstein.

Authorities reiterated that BASE jumping remains illegal within Table Mountain National Park, citing safety concerns and environmental risks.

“The crashed pilot was located shortly before 10am. Tragically, he was found deceased.”

The incident prompted a large-scale search and recovery operation involving multiple emergency and rescue agencies. Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR) spokesperson David Nel said the operation concluded shortly after 11:26am once the pilot’s body had been safely recovered.
