Chipotle Fatal Shooting at Temple University: Juvenile Found Dead in Philadelphia Restaurant Bathroom
A teenage boy was found dead after being shot inside the bathroom of a Chipotle restaurant near Temple University's campus in North Philadelphia on Monday evening, according to police.
Authorities said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene inside the bathroom. Investigators recovered one spent shell casing, indicating that at least one shot was fired from a semi-automatic weapon.
“Not only did we find the victim in the bathroom, we found one spent shell casing, so at least one shot was fired,” said police official Small.
The shooting occurred just after 5 p.m. on January 12 at the Chipotle located at North 12th Street and Montgomery Avenue. Police said the restaurant was crowded at the time, as it was the first day back from winter break at Temple University.
Students described the restaurant as a popular gathering spot on campus.
“A lot of students eat here. A lot of people gather at Chipotle,” said Temple senior Chikondi Rose.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
