ROCKFORD, Ill. — Authorities have confirmed the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Rockford. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Perry Brown, 55, of Rockford.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Rutgers Place around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. He was determined to be beyond resuscitation and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Continues in Rockford
An autopsy later confirmed that Brown died as a result of his gunshot wound. Authorities have not yet released information regarding possible suspects or arrests. The incident remains under active investigation by Rockford Police.
