Paul Thames, the man charged with injury to a child in the brutal beating of a 3-year-old boy in Waco, Texas, is being held on a $200,000 bond
WACO, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) — A man in Texas was allegedly caught on camera brutally beating a 3-year-old boy, according to authorities.
Police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex around 5:20 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault involving a young child.
Waco police identified Paul Thames, 29, as the man seen in Ring doorbell footage allegedly beating the toddler. Authorities say the video shows the man picking up the child and striking him at least five times in the torso with a closed fist.
The child could be heard crying as the suspect pulled him up by his face and asked, “Are you going to stop playing?” before walking away with the boy.
Police said the child was transported to a hospital for evaluation and was later released.
Thames later surrendered to authorities and was booked into the McLennan County Jail late Friday night. He has been charged with injury to a child, a third-degree felony.
His bond was set at $200,000, according to jail records.
