The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a shooting call in the airport area that left a woman’s car damaged with bullets overnight.
Officers say they arrived at the scene in the 2900 block of Airways Boulevard at 10:55 p.m.
Police spoke to a victim who said she was traveling southbound on Airways with her friend in her 2016 Nissan Versa. The victim said she was behind a white four-door sedan at the intersection of Airways Boulevard and Democrat Road.
The woman then told officers that the white sedan stopped in front of her at a stop sign at the intersection of Directors Row and Directors Cove, and said a man leaned out of the driver's window with a rifle. She stated that the man began shooting at the front of her car.
The woman and her friend were not injured. At this time, no suspect information has been released.
Authorities are continuing the investigation. Residents in the area are advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
