Detroit, MI – My heart is saddened to learn that Olivet Alum Maurice Lewis has passed away
Maurice Lewis was known as a devoted son, brother, friend, and coach, whose life was centered around uplifting others through education, athletics, and leadership. A proud Detroit native, Lewis earned a Bachelor's degree in Fitness Management from the University of Olivet, where he made a lasting impression both on and off campus.
Following his time at Olivet, Lewis built a career dedicated to developing young people. He served as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Valley Forge, worked as a Health and Physical Education teacher, and was the owner of Detroit Sports World, a business focused on athletics and community engagement.
Through each role, he was recognized for his passion, discipline, and unwavering belief in the potential of those he coached and taught. His influence extended far beyond the court and classroom, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
