Law enforcement officials confirmed that officers remain on the scene and there is no known threat to the public.

At approximately 3:45pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, an individual was shot in an isolated incident inside a restroom at the Ballenger Field House on Mott Community College’s campus.

The injured individual was immediately transported to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving medical attention. Authorities confirmed that one suspect is in custody.

College officials emphasized that there are no known ongoing threats at this time. Officers from the Mott Community College Department of Public Safety, Flint Police Department, and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office remain present as a precaution.

“We thank our public safety team for their swift and professional response, along with the support from local law enforcement agencies.”

The college stated that its thoughts are with those affected by the incident. Counseling and support services will be made available to students and employees as needed.
