BANGLADESH: A Hindu businessman was shot dead in southern Bangladesh, marking the fifth killing of a Hindu community member in just 18 days. The victim, Rana Pratap Bairagi (38), was fatally shot in the head by unidentified assailants in the Jessore district.
According to officials, Bairagi was shot on Monday night in the Keshabpur area of Jessore. Bangladesh Puja Celebration Committee President Bashudeb Dhar confirmed the killing, stating that the attackers remain unidentified and investigations are ongoing.
The deceased was a resident of Arua village in Keshabpur upazila and owned an ice-making factory in Kopaliya Bazar, Monirampur. He also served as the acting editor of the newspaper ‘Dainik BD’.
