An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a woman during an immigration-related operation in Minneapolis on Wednesday, an incident that has sparked intense political and public debate.

The Minnesota Star Tribune identified the woman as Renee Nicole Good, 37. Minneapolis officials said Good was out “caring for her neighbors” when she was killed and did not appear to be the target of the operation.

Federal officials, including President Donald Trump, offered a sharply different account. The Department of Homeland Security claimed Good was a “violent rioter” who attempted to run over ICE agents, describing the shooting as an act of self-defense.

“This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.”
— Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey

Mayor Jacob Frey publicly rejected the federal version of events, telling ICE officials in blunt and expletive-laced remarks to leave the city. The comments underscored growing tension between local leaders and the Trump administration over immigration enforcement.

Hundreds of ICE agents have been deployed to Minneapolis as part of the White House’s expanded crackdown on illegal immigration. The shooting occurred around 10:25 a.m. local time, according to authorities.

Videos posted to social media by bystanders appear to capture the moment of the shooting, further fueling public scrutiny as investigators review the circumstances surrounding Good’s death.
