Chico, Butte County, California — A homicide investigation is underway following the tragic death of Sean Ray Allen Jr., 30, who was fatally shot early on New Year’s Day in downtown Chico. The community mourns this heartbreaking loss as family, friends, and neighbors seek answers.
Officers responded at approximately 1:50 AM to multiple gunshot reports in the 300 block of Broadway. Sean Allen was transported to a nearby hospital by private vehicle but was pronounced deceased. Witnesses described chaotic scenes, bystanders rendering aid, and multiple community members witnessing the aftermath near bars and restaurants downtown.
Sean was a devoted father of three, including a newborn, and worked as a logger in Challenge, California. Charlene N Jake Trujillo shared: “Sean helped on equipment and fire watch, and he was such a great guy. Our crew is going to miss him terribly.”
