NUEVO, Calif. (CNS): A Riverside County Fire Department crewman battling a residential blaze in Nuevo Wednesday morning has died after collapsing from an undisclosed medical emergency, according to officials.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the line-of-duty death of Fire Apparatus Engineer Daniel ‘Danny’ Cook,” the Riverside County Fire Department said in a statement. “Engineer Cook’s passing is a devastating loss to our department, the fire service, and the community he served with dedication and professionalism.”
Officials said Cook was transported to a regional trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead. Further details surrounding the medical emergency were not disclosed.
