Darren Lockhart, Anderson man dies in single-vehicle crash, passenger seriously hurt
MADISON COUNTY, Ind. – An investigation is underway after a crash left an Anderson man dead and a passenger seriously injured in Madison County on Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Department were called shortly before 4 p.m. to investigate reports of a fatal vehicle accident that occurred in the 2300 block of E. CR 800 N.
According to authorities, the crash happened Wednesday afternoon when a car carrying two men left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and ended up in a ditch.
Both occupants of the vehicle were unrestrained and were ejected from the car during the crash, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Department.
The driver was identified as 37-year-old Darren Lockhart of Anderson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was seriously injured and transported for medical treatment. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
