MIDDLETON TWP., Ohio (WTVG) — A Fremont man was killed and two others were injured following a two-vehicle crash on an icy Wood County roadway on New Year’s Eve.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 12:24 p.m. on Dunbridge Road near Dowling Road. A pickup truck traveling southbound and a sedan heading northbound both lost control on the icy roadway and collided head-on.

The driver of the sedan, identified as Matias Silvas Jr., 56, of Fremont, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck, Michael Kohler Jr., 27, of Perrysburg, and his passenger were injured.
