NASCAR Legend Greg Biffle Killed in Plane Crash in North Carolina
Wife Cristina and Children Reportedly Among Victims
STATESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: The motorsports world is in mourning following reports that former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has died after a private jet crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport on Tuesday. Authorities have confirmed multiple fatalities in the tragic incident.
The aircraft involved was identified as a Cessna C550 business jet, which reportedly crashed during its landing approach. Emergency crews responded immediately, but officials later confirmed that there were no survivors.
Close friend Garrett Mitchell shared an emotional statement on Facebook, confirming that Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their children were aboard the plane while traveling to spend the afternoon together.
"Unfortunately, I can confirm Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were on that plane," Mitchell wrote. "We are devastated."
While official identification by authorities is still pending, tributes have begun pouring in from across the NASCAR community. Drivers, teams, and fans alike have expressed shock and sorrow over the loss.
Greg Biffle never formally announced his retirement from NASCAR but spent much of the past decade focused on family life. He raced only occasionally in recent years, with his wife Cristina frequently supporting him from the stands.
Cristina was Greg’s second wife. He was previously married to Nicole Lunders from 2007 to 2016, and they share a daughter, Elizabeth. Greg and Cristina became engaged during a 2021 trip to the Bahamas and married in 2022.
