Authorities Identify Husband and Wife Found Dead Inside Town of Poughkeepsie Home

📍 Poughkeepsie, New York | 🕒 Wednesday Afternoon

Police are actively investigating the deaths of a man and a woman discovered inside a residence on Homer Place in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, officers responded to a home located at 21 Homer Place at approximately 12:11 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a serious incident.

Upon arrival, officers located a male and a female, both in their 50s, who were pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that both individuals had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

Police have identified the deceased as Peter Lopez, 59, and his wife, Debbie Lopez, also known as Debbie Mawhinney-Lopez.

Investigators believe the incident was domestic-related. Police stated that Peter Lopez shot and killed his wife before dying by suicide.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, but there is no threat to the public.
