Suspect Survives After Alleged Flight School Break-In

LOS ANGELES: A small plane crashed into a building at Van Nuys Airport early Thursday morning after it was allegedly stolen from a flight school, according to Los Angeles Airport Police and federal aviation officials.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the aircraft was a single-engine Cessna C172 that struck a hangar at approximately 5 a.m. after being taken without authorization.
Authorities said a suspect broke into the LA Flight Academy around 4 a.m., entered the aircraft, and attempted to fly before crashing into a nearby structure at the airport in the west San Fernando Valley.
The suspect survived the crash and was taken into custody at the scene. Officials later identified him as 37-year-old Ceffeareno Logan, who was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of an aircraft.
No other injuries were reported, and airport operations were not significantly disrupted. Investigators continue reviewing how the aircraft was accessed and whether additional security measures are needed.
