Our parish and the school community of St. Joseph's, Kingscourt, mourn the sudden loss of beloved teacher Sarah Halpenny

Ireland & Australia • Community News

Communities in Ireland and Australia have paid heartfelt tribute to Co Meath woman Sarah Halpenny (29), who died suddenly while living in Melbourne.

A former teacher with Kingscourt National School in Co Cavan, Ms Halpenny was most recently employed at Sacred Heart Primary School, St Albans, Melbourne.

Sarah was remembered as an exceptional educator — equally loved and adored by her pupils, colleagues, and wider school community.

Her family are from Bengerstown, Lobinstown, near Navan in Co Meath. Sarah had emigrated to Australia some years ago, where she quickly became a respected member of the teaching and sporting communities.

Well known in GAA circles both in Ireland and Melbourne, Sarah was a talented Gaelic footballer whose passion for sport matched her dedication to education.

At St Joseph's National School, Kingscourt, she was fondly remembered as a wonderful teacher and a cherished friend.
