BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP): A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was fatally shot at his home near Boston, prompting authorities to launch a homicide investigation, officials confirmed Tuesday.
Authorities identified the victim as Nuno F. G. Loureiro, a 47-year-old physicist and fusion scientist at MIT. He was shot Monday night inside his apartment in Brookline, Massachusetts, and later died at a local hospital, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
