Lulu Carter Lafayette LA Murder Shooting Obituary, Beloved Mom and Entrepreneur Has Died
Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of local businesswoman Lerhonda L. “LuLu” Carter, 40, according to authorities.
James Michael Joseph, 44, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, according to a statement released by the Scott Police Department.
Arrest records from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center indicate Joseph was taken into custody at approximately 5:12 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Vermilion Street in Lafayette.
Details of the Investigation
Scott Police reported that officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Delhomme Avenue on December 30, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
During the investigation, Joseph was identified as a suspect and later charged with second-degree murder under Louisiana law.
A second individual, Jessie Howard Alfred Jr., was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact of second-degree murder, police confirmed.
