ANTIPOLO CITY, PH: Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop has died on Saturday evening, according to police reports. He was found by his youngest child, Dr. Karla Marie Acop, and his security aide, Pat Frank Louie Pastrana, after a nurse alerted them to an emergency.
Background & Public Service
Acop served in the Philippine National Police as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Service (CIS) from 1994 to 1995 with the rank of Chief Superintendent, equivalent to a brigadier general during the Ramos government. He resigned from CIS in 1995 after the Kuratong Baleleng rubout and later, in 2001, following the resignation of PNP Chief Panfilo Lacson, he stepped down with two other prominent officers. By 2002, the CIDG reviewed cases against him related to the Dacer-Corbito incident.
Earlier, a homicide occurred on December 20, 2025, on Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC, marking the second murder within minutes and the 7th murder that week during the Christmas season. This news draws attention to a broader conversation about violence and public safety, coinciding with his passing.
