BOSTON (WHDH): A police chief from New Jersey was arrested Friday and transported to Boston to face felony charges, including kidnapping and domestic assault, stemming from an alleged incident earlier this year.
Prosecutors say Carmen Veneziano will be arraigned Monday in Suffolk County Court. Authorities allege the incident occurred in September at a Back Bay hotel, where a woman was assaulted and prevented from leaving the room.
Charges and Official Response
Veneziano, 47, of Totowa, New Jersey, was indicted on charges of kidnapping and three counts of domestic assault and battery, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
The mayor of Totowa confirmed that Veneziano, who serves as the town’s police chief, has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case.
