Johnathan David Paleno, 21, Charged with First-Degree Murder in Death of Joseph Rose
BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a missing man was found dead earlier this month in Buncombe County.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said Johnathan David Paleno, 21, of Cullowhee, was arrested Friday and charged with the murder of Joseph Rose, who was reported missing on December 2 and later found deceased in Candler.
Authorities stated that Rose failed to appear at a family Thanksgiving dinner, prompting concern from relatives. His sister, Emily Ivory Rose, told investigators the last contact she had with her brother was on November 24, the day he was expected to travel for the holiday.
Officials confirmed that Paleno was taken into custody by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and transferred to the Buncombe County Detention Facility, where he is currently being held without bond.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
