FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Authorities have identified the teenager who was killed in a violent crash involving a semi-truck Monday evening in Fresno County. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 19-year-old Mattix Salmon of Kingsburg.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched shortly after 6:30 p.m. to a crash on Manning Avenue east of Riverside Avenue.

Investigators say Salmon was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Manning Avenue when a semi-truck traveling east veered into his lane.

The semi-truck, driven by Marlon Tavarez of San Joaquin, sideswiped the driver’s side of Salmon’s truck. The impact forced the Silverado off the roadway, where it overturned multiple times.

CHP says the vehicle ultimately came to rest on its roof along the south dirt shoulder. Mattix Salmon was pronounced dead at the scene.
