Authorities confirmed that Edeedson “Eddy” Ciné Jr., a 23-year-old CVS employee, died after an incident while working a shift at a store in Lindenhurst, Long Island, on Christmas night.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina joined more than 200 mourners Monday night at a candlelight vigil held at Lindenhurst Village Square, where he addressed the grieving family and community.
The vigil honored Ciné, who was remembered as kind, selfless, and dedicated. Community members described him as someone who always stepped up to help others.
According to his family, Ciné had answered an unexpected call to fill a last-minute shift at the CVS pharmacy on Montauk Highway after leaving home on Christmas Day.
His father later described his son as brave and deeply loved, noting that Eddy never hesitated to support his family or community.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, as authorities continue to gather information surrounding the events of that night.
