FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville residents planning to travel or leave their homes unattended during the holiday season can take advantage of a free service offered by the Fayetteville Police Department designed to help keep properties secure.
Through the department’s House Check Program, residents can request that patrol officers conduct random checks of their homes while they are away. The service is completely free and is intended to deter criminal activity during periods when houses may be vacant.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — To register, residents can visit the city’s official website, navigate to Community Policing & Engagement, and select “Request a House/Party Check.”
Similar house-check programs are also offered by nearby police departments, including Chapel Hill and Apex, providing additional peace of mind for residents traveling during the holidays.
With increased foot and vehicle traffic around Cross Creek Mall and other shopping centers, Fayetteville police say more officers will be on patrol throughout the season.
The department also reminds residents to follow the “Lock, Take, Hide” rule: lock your vehicle, take your keys and valuables, and hide shopping bags and gifts out of sight to reduce the risk of theft.
