MUNCIE, IN — Muncie police are investigating the fatal shooting of a local man following a reported home invasion on the city’s east side.
Investigators said Marcus Brown Jr., 28, was shot during the evening after allegedly forcing his way into a residence in the 1100 block of East 29th Street.
Police stated that Brown was armed at the time of the incident. The homeowner, identified as Danny Martin Songer, 33, allegedly fired the weapon during the confrontation.
Songer was later arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice and unlawful carrying of a handgun, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting as the investigation remains ongoing.
